The GLS playoffs begin on week fourteen (14) of the NFL season. The playoffs conclude with the GLS Bowl (Week 16).
Qualifying for Post Season
Six (6) out of the twelve (12) teams in the league will make the playoffs.
Three division winners clinch a playoff berth with the two with the best records getting first round byes. (Seeds #1 AND #2) The division winner with the worst record will be the #3 seed. (See tiebreaker section for tiebreaker rules)
Seeds 4 and 5 will be the remaining teams with the best records (wild card teams). (See tiebreaker section for tiebreaker rules). Seed 6 will be the remaining team who has scored the most points. (See tiebreaker section for tiebreaker rules)
After round 1 the lowest seeded team remaining (6 for example) will play the #1 seed the other winner from round 1 will play the #2 seed. Winners from round 2 win advance to the championship game.
Playoff Seeding Tiebreakers
The GLS tie-breaking system for playoff qualification is as follows:
If teams finish with identical records the following criteria will be used:
1) Total Points
2) Head to Head
3) Division Record
4) Non-Division Record
5) Coin Toss
Playoff Match up Tiebreakers
Playoff Games that result in a tie will be broken in this manner.
1st Tiebreaker: Total Offensive Yards from starting lineup
2nd Tiebreaker: Fewest total yards allowed by starting Team Defense
3rd Tiebreaker: Total Touchdowns scored by starting lineup
4th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting QB
5th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting RB
6th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting WR
7th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting TE
8th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting K
9th Tiebreaker: Highest Scoring starting Team DEF
The Losers Bracket Tournament
The six (6) teams that do not make the playoffs will enter into the Losers Bracket. This tournament will follow the exact criteria of the Playoff Bracket Tournament
Pro Bowl
The GLS will have a Division Pro Bowl in Week 17 of the NFL regular season. Each division winner must pick a starting lineup consisting of at least one player from each team in the division. An 11th player(Extra player) will be started for this game also (only to break ties). Lineups must be posted on the Message Board in the appropriate thread (started by commish) prior to first game of week
The Winning Division will each get 10 GLB's.
** If there is a tie both divisions get the 10 GLB's.
